Deck
4 Wild Nacatl
3 Ember Weaver
4 Stonybrook Schoolmaster
2 Thorn-thrash Viashino
2 Wildfield Borderpost
2 Wildfire Borderpost
4 Dragon fodder
4 Gilt-leaf Ambush
2 Cenn's Enlistment
2 Curse of Chains
3 Presence of Gond
4 Lightning Bolt
3 Sigil Blessing
2 Sigil of the Nayan gods
4 Terramorphic expanse
2 Naya Panorama
5 Plains
5 Forest
3 Mountain
Sideboard
4 Gleeful Sabotage
4 Nacatl Outlander
4 Valeron Outlander
3 Surge of Thoughtweft
Now this deck is pretty cool and it plays decently right now, although the presence of gond's havnt had much practice. This deck wasn't close to finish in the spdc 10.02 (and still isn't) and went 2-2 (probably shouldve won the first match if I didnt make tons of stupid mistakes). I just want to hear what u guys thought when u looked down the list of cards for the deck.
Now the main strategy is trying to set up a nice amount of tokens on the field which is surprisingly easy and can even be done against decks with crazy amounts of interrupts. Just from looking at this deck's setup one of the first things u will most likely realize is that a festercreep or hurly-burly poses an incredible amount of threat, this is not true. Not only can u expect ur opponents to switch them in from their sideboard but adding surges of thoughtweft along with the preexisting sigil blessings make the tokens surprisingly very difficult to kill. |

You've got a ton of 2 and 3-ofs, which suggests that the deck could be streamlined to perform better. Sigil of the Nayan Gods is usually just going to draw a removal spell, getting you hit 2 for 1, so it'd be high on my list of things to cut. Presence of Gond has similar problems, so I'd also be looking pretty hard at cutting that.
Also, Festercreep and Hurly-Burly *are* going to be problems when you're playing against skilled opponents, because Sigil Blessing is also easily stopped by any removal spell.
This deck looks like it's capable of some pretty nasty things, assuming little disruption of its plan, but it looks to me like it'd have a rough time against decks with heavy removal suites and/or lots of fliers. _________________ Mountain bikes are for slow people!

I changed the deck up a bit
switched out-
2 Thorn-thrash Viashino
2 Curse of Chains
3 Presence of Gond
2 Sigil of the Nayan gods
switched in-
4 Soul Warden
4 Lash out
1 Sigil Blessing
and the new sideboard is-
2 Gleeful Sabotage
3 Smash to Smithereens
3 Nacatl Outlander
3 Surge of Thoughtweft
4 Valeron Outlander
The soul wardens r nice b/c they act as a target for creature destruction and if they rnt they usually give around 6-12 life before they die. Curse of chains was nice against black/white decks that use edges of divinity and nightsky mimics seeing how a nip gwillion becomes a 4/4 w/ the edge and a nightsky mimic isnt a viable target for a lightning bolt or lashout (this is obviously just 1 scenario). Lash out just works out better b/c it kills the guy and has a decent chance of dealing 3 dmg. |

Those generally seem like good changes. It should probably play more consistently for you now. _________________ Mountain bikes are for slow people!

there are some good ideas I like there but the balance of my deck in mana/spell color ratio wise is pretty good atm. The devoted druid and pili-pala would almost solely be used as a target for presence of gond, which easily falls victim to wickerbough elders (one good reason I took it out). At first the main use of presence of gond was to be placed on stonybrook schoolmaster in order to not only create a first token, but to make 2 when used every turn. The problem with this is that stonybrook schoolmaster is easily killable but is still AMAZING in my deck.
What I want to try to do is add giantbaitings into my deck or atleast my sideboard. The only thing that I can realistically kick out of my deck and keep the general theme of the deck to continue would be ember weaver (and perhaps soul warden but it makes alot of sense to kick out a 3 cost spell for another 3 cost).
My sideboard has artifact kill cards against strixy decks, surges of thoughtweft against hurly burly + festercreeps or for my occasional bursts, valeron outlanders for any black deck, and nacatl outlander against any variant of blue/white. If I was to switch out anything I would probably switch out a 1/3 surge of thoughtweft and 3/3 nacatl outlanders for 4 giant baitings.
thoughts? |
