TPDC Season 18

TPDC is FREE to enter, open to all, playing Classic Pauper with the built-in filter. Newcomers are always welcome.

WHEN:
Registration officially opens at 7:30 EST, closing promptly at 8pm EST. Matches start shortly after.

REGISTRATION:
To register, log in to Gatherling and look for this event under the "PREREGISTER FOR EVENTS" section of the Player CP. Registration should be open no later than 7:30 EST. Gatherling will immediately confirm for you if you are registered. Do not be late however, it closes promptly at 8. If you think you may be late, check the site early to see if registration is open. Or try to contact the host.

In game, type "/join TPDC" in any MTGO window. It will open up the TPDC chatroom where you can see announcements and chat with other players. Then also /join TPDCcom, which is where you will post the results of each match.

DECK CONSTRUCTION
TPDC uses the built-in filter with no changes. If MTGO says your deck is Pauper legal, then it's TPDC legal.

(See season schedule below for exceptions to the regular format or schedule.)

PRIZES
Top 4: The top 4 players receive gift certificates from MTGOTraders.com which may be used at your convenience. (In appreciation we encourage everyone to consider MTGOTraders whenever buying singles, and to put "TPDC" in the shopping card field for "how did you hear about us?")

1st: 7 credits
2nd: 4 credits
3rd: 2 credits
4th: 2 credits

(Players in the top 4 must ensure the host has their email in order to receive their MTGOTraders gift certificate.)

5th - 8th: Players finishing 5-8 will be awarded cards from the host's supply (subject to availability).

Door prize: The host may award a door prize to a random participant who plays through all swiss rounds but didn't make the top 8 cut.

Donations for 5-8 and door prize are always appreciated, as is contributing to larger prize pools for Season Championships. Please PM your host if you have something you wish to contribute.

Event Structure

8-15 players: 3 rounds of Swiss with a top 4
17-23 players: 3 rounds of Swiss with a top 8
24-39 players: 4 rounds of Swiss with a top 8
40+ players: 5 rounds of Swiss with a top 8

(In the event of fewer than 8 participants, the host reserves the right to cancel the tournament. This almost never happens.)

Additionally, TPDC matches have the following rules:

Pairings will be posted in the event thread, as well as announced in the TPDC channel.
Tables are created in the Casual Play -> Anything Goes room. Either player in the pairing can make the table.
Tables must be made using the Pauper filter, "best 2 out of 3", Watchable, and labeled "TPDC Round #".
If your opponent doesn't join your table, PM them after 2 minutes and PM the host after 5. For a 4-round tournament, a game loss is given after 10 minutes and a match loss after 20. For a 5-round tournament, match loss is given after 10 minutes of no-show.
The deck used for round 1 must be used for the entire tournament. Modifications will result in disqualification and banning.
After each round, results must be reported in the TPDCcom channel like "W2-1" or "L0-2". Also because of the Swiss structure, anyone dropping from the tournament must report "drop" in TPDCcom or face warnings and suspension.
Chatting in the TPDC channel is welcome except when the host is making announcements. However, please don't talk or ask questions in TPDCcom. It is only for reporting drops and results.
All players are expected to post their decklist to Gatherling. This can be done during the tournament or afterward, but players not entering decklists may be denied invitations to the end-of-season championships.
Bad sportsmanship or other rules violations may result in match loss, disqualification, suspension, or banning. Offense and punishment will be decided at the host's discretion.

Thank you Mr. TheSlug for filling in. I will get this all entered tonight. It is great to have someone like you to fill in. Rathis and I are going to have to work on our communication.

PostPosted: Tue May 15, 2012 9:37 am    Post subject: TPDC Season 19 Hosting Schedule Reply with quote

We are currently starting to work on the TPDC Season 19 Hosting Schedule. If anyone would like to be a TPDC host for TPDC Season 19 please leave a message here or PM me on these forums.

The season will start "Officially" on June 5th and run till the end of August when the new set is released. I am currently checking with current TPDC Hosts to see who is planning on staying on the Hosting schedule for the summer, and will be training new hosts as needed.

As a host you should expect to run 1 to 2 events per month plus assisting the other hosts as they need, depending on how many hosts we get. Ideally we would like to schedule 2 hosts per week. One main host to run the event through DCI-R, and a co-host to assist players with anything they may need. (example: helping new players reg, answering questions, helping new players upload their deck lists, etc).

If you do not want to commit to being a regular scheduled host, we are also interested in finding "fill-in" hosts that can jump in last minute when a regular host cannot make it.

Here is an excellently written guide on using DCI-R for hosting a TPDC event: Using DCI Reporter

TPDC is also looking for a Season 19 artist. If you have some artistic talent or would just like to learn, and would like to help out making the season 19 trophies, that position is open also.

TPDC is the premier Pauper Classic event in the MTGO Community. The event draws on average 30+ people each week. The fact that TPDC is just entering its 19th Season is a testament to its popularity with the players, as well as the effectiveness of its management. It certainly is not easy to run an event of this size week in and week out. But the dedication of the people involved with this event should be commended. We have been very grateful to all the players who have helped to make this event such a success over the years, as well as the weekly praise from various players for the job we do.

Now consider this an invitation to join that team of dedicated players who make TPDC happen each and every week. If you are a self-motivated player, who has a strong attention to detail, positive attitude, and the ability to overcome unforeseen obstacles, we would like you to consider a position as a TPDC Host.

Just a little reminder, that next week 05/29/12 is the Season Championship for TPDC. The Season Championship is by invitation ONLY! I will be sending out invites for it tomorrow 05/22/12. Make sure you have your decklists entered! You can check to see if you are qualified here:

[url=http://pdcmagic.com/gatherling/seriesreport.php?series=TPDC&season=18]Leaderboard/url]
If you are above the double line you are qualifed for the Season Championship. Below it, you are out. For any event that you have ** instead of points, it is because you have not entered your deck list. No points are given for missing deck lists. I see quite a few people who only need a few more points to qualify for the Championship who have missing decklists! So make sure you get all your past deck lists entered if you are not qualified currently. If you enter them late, you still will not get an invite!

Every season it happens where people don't get an invite because they failed to enter their deck lists. Don't get mad at the hosts when they refuse to let you play because you didn't enter your lists! It is the player responsibility.

is it possible to not have a cluster of people coming late to reg?
LCQ started 15 after and people were allowed in as late as 8:57pm est
a lot of us get here on time and it's awful that tardy players are rewarded with late entry

Yokai_,

To post a deck list, you go to your player cp in Gatherling, on the Left side of your player cp is a "Recent Decks" section. Next to it is a link "(see all)". Click the "(see all)" link. A new page will open up. On the right is a section called "unentered decks". Click the create deck link for each missing deck list and enter the deck you played at that event.

If you are one of the people who did not get invited because of missing deck lists, remember this for the future. Entering deck lists is very important!
